Setting up your website template:

Step 1:
EDIT FLASH ANIMATION: | Click for more details
Open the "flash.txt" file with Notepad or a plain text editor and edit "Your Website Title" with your name or company name. Be sure not to delete the "logo=" code. Edit the text following "&slogan=" with your website slogan or leave this blank. This will update the Flash logo on all pages. If you wish to use a graphic logo, there are instructions later in this document.

Edit the "Welcome" text for the "var LogoText" in the "header.js" with your site name. To test this, make the "var showflash" a "no" and open the "index.html" in your web browser. This is the text that will show in non-Flash browsers. Change the "var showflash" back to "yes" when you are done.

The "header.js" includes a browser detection script for non-Flash browsers and devices. An option for testing and to show either text, or an image in non-Flash browsers is included in the "header.js". Click above for details.

FLASH HEADER ICON: In the "picts" folder you can replace the "flash-icon.jpg" with any 150 wide x 75 pixel high .jpg image. Do not save this .jpg as a progressive image. You can optionally go wider with this image. If you do not want to use the Flash icon you can rename the "BLANK-flash-icon.jpg" in the picts folder to "flash-icon.jpg".

HOMEPAGE FLASH IMAGE CHANGER: | Click for more details
The animation in the homepage (index.html) is showing 12 .jpg images. You will find these images in the "flash" folder. You can simply replace "image1.jpg" through "image12.jpg" with any standard .jpg images and the flash will update. Make your images 100 x 100 pixels in size.

The homepage Flash image changer includes a browser detection script. 12 static images, "image1.jpg" through "image12.jpg" in the "flash" folder will display in non-Flash browsers.

Step 2:
EDIT FOOTER: | Click for more details
Open the "footer.js" file in Notepad or any text editor, and change the "Your Company" line with your company name. This will change the lower page info on all pages. Edit all ".js" files with a text editor. The "footer.js" also includes links you can edit, or you can add more links as well.

Step 3:
EDIT CONTACT INFO: | Click for more details
Open the "contact.js" file in Notepad and edit the company name, address, phone and fax numbers and e-mail address. This will update contact info on the "contact" page.

Step 4:

Click for current info on setting up the template forms.

Click for info on adding more fields to the forms.

Click for changing form sizes or colors.

If you want to use only e-mail on the contact page you can remove the contact form from the "contact.htm" between the comment tags.

Step 5:
REPLACE THE GALLERY PICTURES: | Click for more details
The best way to setup the pictures in the gallery is not to actually edit the HTML pages and change the pictures on each individual page. The fastest way is to simply replace the pictures in the "gallery" folder with your own by overwriting the files that are in there now and using the same generic names.

In the "gallery" folder, replace the "Fgallery?-?.jpg" pictures with full size photos. Replace the "gallery?-?.jpg" pictures with your thumbnails. The thumbnails are now 130 x 87 pixels and the "Fgallery" images are 500 x 333. You can make them any size that you prefer. There is info for adding more images to each gallery pages later in this document.

Galleries 1-3 include 9 images on each page. Gallery 4 includes 4 images total. You can duplicate any gallery page to add more pages. See options below for details.

IMAGE VIEWER OPTIONS: | Click for more details
You can change some options for the gallery image viewer page (image-viewer.htm) by editing the pop-closeup.js in Notepad. Options include new browser window, or popup for the viewer.

Step 6:
This template includes a Paypal payment page called "custom.htm". Edit the "" in this page with your Paypal e-mail and you can use this page to accept custom payments by sending clients a link to this page and having them fill in the amount on the payment page.

Step 7:
EDIT SIDEBAR: | Click for more details
Open the "sidebar.js" file in Notepad or any text editor, and edit the text and links with your own text. You will also find some options you can change at the top of this file. Editing the sidebar.js will update the right side of all the template pages at one time. Editing example: In the sidebar.js find the "1ST NOTES AREA" and edit the "Notes Area" line with your sidebar title text. Edit the "You can edit this area..." text with your own text. Try this update and check the about.htm to see this updated.

Step 8:
EDIT PAGES: | Software choices | Notepad Editing
Change the text on all pages to match your information. You can use Frontpage, Dreamweaver, GoLive, any wysiwyg HTML editor or a text editor like Notepad. Take care not to delete any of the HTML tags that surround the text.

Step 9:
Open each of the pages and change the titles (at the very top of the page) and also the description and the keywords to match your product or service. You can edit one page and copy and paste to the other pages. Be careful to only change what's inside the "" so you don't disturb the html code. Page titles are important so your site will get a good listing at Google or MSN and other search engines.

Step 10:
UPLOAD: | Click for more details
Upload the pages on to your hosting company's server using ftp software or Windows Explorer or your control panel. Be sure to upload the "picts" and "gallery" and "flash" and "sounds" folders and all files in these folders.

To replace the Flash logo with a graphic logo: Delete or rename the "header.js". Rename the "graphic_logo_header.js" to "header.js". Edit the "logo.jpg" in the picts folder with your logo graphic image. The logo.jpg is now 750 x 75 pixels in size. If you make the logo.jpg image larger in height, edit the headerheight variable in the "header.js".

HOMEPAGE SOUND: | Click for more details
The homepage (index.html) has a background sound named "home-sound.mp3" and "home-sound.ogg" in the "sounds" folder. Optionally replace both files to have your own sound play on the homepage. You may want to keep the 2 "home-sound" files small so the homepage downloads fast. To remove the homepage background sound delete between the "START SOUND CODE" and "END" notes in the index.html.

The index.html on this template includes some links on the page. Some are target links. Click here for target link info.

HOMEPAGE FLASH: | Click for more details
The Flash on the index.html is 450 pixels wide x 340 high. This animation is named "imagechanger.swf". If you replace this with your own Flash application name your animation edit the "imagechanger.js" with your sizes and edit the name of the animation in 4 places in this .js file.

The slideshow is currently setup to display all pictures in the gallery folder. If you would like to add or remove pictures from the slideshow, open the slideshow.htm in Notepad and look for the "EDIT THIS AREA" note. Copy and paste to add new pictures to the list, or delete lines to remove pictures. You can also set the AutoPlay speed. Look for "var rotate_delay = 3000".

TO REMOVE THE SLIDESHOW: | Click for more details
Move the "slideshow.htm" into the "extras" folder. Remove the slideshow link on the site map page and in the "menu_gallery.js".

You will find extra template images in the "extras" folder that you can use. Extra pages in this template include 3 optional homepages. The "Graphic-LOGO-sample.htm" the "NO-Flash-Home-sample-1.htm" and "NO-Flash-Home-sample-2.htm". If you are using none of these pages you can move them into the "extras" folder.

SIDEBAR IMAGES: | Click for more details
Images used in the sidebar are named "sidebar-1.jpg" and "sidebar-2.jpg". These can be found in the "picts" folder. These images are 125 x 83 pixels in size. Click here if you want to add new items to the sidebar.js.

If you change the notes near the top of the gallery pages, the pictures may no longer line up from one page to the next. To line up the galleries, open the "line_up_pictures.js" in Notepad and change the height="25" to shorten or lengthen all the pages at once.

FONTS: | Click for more details
Edit the "coolstyle.css" with any plain text editor to change font sizes and colors. Edit the "TABLE" px size to change the copy on all pages. Change the "title" px size to change all the title sizes. Click above for details.

CHANGING LINKS / ADDING TO THE MENUS: | Click for more details
There are a total of 4 menu type files in this template that you can add and remove links in.
1. menu.js (top menu)
2. menu_gallery.js (second top menu)
2. sidebar.js (left side with small images and links)
3. footer.js (footer links)

You can change the names of the links like "about" or "gallery" to other page names by editing the "menu.js". Only change the one instance of the name and not the name with the ".htm" after it unless you rename the .htm pages. Whatever you change in the menu.js or any .js file will change every page on the website. You can add more page links by copying one link in the menu.js or footer.js and pasting it right below the next. Be sure to back up your files before you edit them. There are notes in each "menu" .js files to add another link.

ADDING NEW GALLERY PAGES: | Click for more details
To add a new gallery page click here. To add a new row of images to a gallery page click here.

The image in the template footer is a W3C HTML validation logo. The unedited template pages are all W3C valid. If you want to display this logo you can use the W3C HTML Validator to check your pages after you edit them. You can also turn this logo off in the "footer.js" or edit the link in the "footer.js" and replace the "w3c.gif" in the picts folder with your own image.

The "site_map.htm" is linked from the index.html. It is best not to remove this link so search engines can find your site map and properly list all your pages when users search at major search engines.
